Senior Center and Wellness Center
The Campbell County Senior Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM until 3:00 PM each day. The Center is located at 3504 Alexandria Pike (in front of Lakeside Terrace overlooking the lake.) The Center offers an array of activities and programs based on a wellness model. Every senior citizen attending the center has the opportunity to use the exercise equipment on a daily basis, attend scheduled activities, participate in health and total wellness programs and receive individualized training if necessary.
The Center is staffed by Marsha Dufeck, Center Director; Sarah Manhardt, Wellness Coordinator; Larry Broering, Assistant Manager, and Veronika Brannock, Wellness Assistant. Center Operations are overseen the Campbell County Fiscal Court.
The programs offered at the Senior Center are designed on a wellness-based model that responds to the needs of the whole person in a peer-supportive environment, encouraging independence and the practice of healthy behaviors. A combination of strength training, balance and coordination activities, whole-person wellness information, group supports (such as The Diabetes Support Group), walking programs, socialization, Tai Chi, Yoga, arts and crafts, Wii Bowling and cutting edge Health Rhythms (a drumming program) are incorporated into the activities and programs offered monthly. See above for the activity calendar.

The Senior Center has won two National Awards. The Nu-Step Corporation presented the Pinnacle Award in 2006 for “Best Senior Programming” and the National Council on Aging and the American Society on Aging presented the “Best Practices for Health Promotion” in 2007. The State of Kentucky presented the Center with an award for the “Get Healthy Kentucky” Initiative. There were no other senior centers recognized for wellness programming.
The Center has over 1500 seniors registered with approximately 200 seniors involved in activities throughout the day. Bingo, card playing, corn hole, chair volleyball, Movie of the Month, and Holiday themed parties are offered as well.
The Campbell County Senior Center is a one-of-a-kind wellness model with a top notch staff providing a warm friendly atmosphere meeting the needs of today’s seniors as well as the needs of those to come. Please call 859-572-4300 for more information.
If seniors want to participate in the wellness programs, a registration must be approved by the doctor. See above for the wellness registration packet.
Participants in all other programs will be asked to also fill out a simple registration form at the front office.
