911 Service Fee

What is the 911 Service Fee?

A $70 annual fee charged to each residential and commercial unit located on a parcel of property. This fee pays for 911 emergency dispatch for police, fire, and emergency medical services.

Why did the 911 fee change from $45 last year to $70 this year?

Campbell County, along with Boone and Kenton Counties, is upgrading the radio system used by first responders to communicate. The current radio system, installed in 1968, does not allow police and fire to talk to each other, does not provide adequate coverage in parts of the County and is at the end of its useful life. This new system costs approximately $5,000,000 and the Fiscal Court voted that changing the 911 fee was the most fiscally responsible way to pay for the system.

Are there any exceptions to this fee?

The fee is due even if your property is exempt from taxes. However, if a unit is vacant on November 1, 2017, no fee is due for that specific unit. Please indicate the number of vacancies and reduce your payment appropriately when you pay the bill.

What if I have been charged for an incorrect number of units?

If you believe that you have been charged for an incorrect number of units, please pay the full amount of the fees on the bill and file an appeal. The appeal form is available at the website listed below or at County offices. Appeals will be reviewed beginning in January 2018. If your appeal is granted, you will be issued a refund.

What if I have other questions about the 911 Service Fee?

Please visit the Campbell County Fiscal Court website at www.campbellcountyky.org or call 859-547-1814.
